You are not born with self- sabotaging habits. You are born with phenomenal confidence.
Most of us don’t understand the power of our minds and don’t know how to use it. Our subconscious mind is an amazing tool, but it’s almost like the instructions are in a different language, that you don’t know. Your minds job is to do what it thinks you want it to do based on the language you use. And your job is to tell it exactly what you want using relevant, up to date, powerful, exciting, descriptive words.
The language you use is important because the mind can only work in the present tense. When you tell it next year, I’m going to have a bikini body, next year I’m going to be wealthy, next year I’m going to be so happy is a problem. The mind doesn’t know what next year is in the same way that you tell a child you are going to do something tomorrow and the child asks is it tomorrow today? Because they can’t future pace. The mind isn’t great at future pacing, you have to say “now”. I’m becoming super successful now, I’m joyously happy now. If you add the word now your mind understands “Oh you want this – I’d better action this”. Whereas next year or five years from now your mind doesn’t’ really know what that means. The mind works in the present tense only. It’s why when people are depressed, they can’t imagine getting better, it’s why when you are in pain it’s very hard to imagine no pain.
If you say I’m never going to eat cake again, I’m just not interested in cake, cake doesn’t thrill me, what you are saying is that I am interested in cake and cake thrills me and I need to eat cake again because the words no, not, don’t – don’t work in the subconscious mind. You have probably experienced this when you have made a New Year’s Resolution not to do something that probably only lasted days.
- The mind only works in the present tense
- The mind only responds to words that make pictures and the more clear and vivid in detail the better.
- You cannot prefix with the words no, not, don’t or never because it doesn’t work
The role of the mind is:
The pictures you make in your head
And the words you say to yourself.
To make an effective change the words you choose to speak to yourself have to be exciting, dramatic, powerful and super descriptive.
We all make pictures and words but successful people make powerful pictures and exciting words. People who are not successful make negative pictures and negative words.
You will not likely get what you want when you repeat to yourself every day and in every way my life is getting better and better. Try to picture that. Is it vivid, descriptive or exciting? Does that set your mind on fire with passion and direction – no of course it doesn’t.
When you say I am skilled, gifted and have passion, drive and determination. I’m going towards my dream career like a laser- that’s powerful and descriptive and gives your subconscious mind direction and focus. Saying I’m a lovable person. I’m warm and amazing and I’m finding who I want and they are finding me. That makes a picture compared to I’m looking for love- which really doesn’t’ make a picture that your subconscious mind can work with.
The wording you choose is so important. It’s important to use dynamic words -descriptive words. Saying I am motivated and passionate and driven and my body is an awesome wellness producing machine makes a very different picture than I’m trying not to get ill.
Saying my body is a fantastic metabolic machine that burns off whatever I eat. Even if I occasionally eat in a not so good way it doesn’t matter my body has a phenomenal metabolic rate that uses everything, I eat to build a perfect body paints an entirely different picture than I’m hoping not to get fat.
Another example, I have an extraordinary, dependable, foolproof memory. These words create an extraordinary image of what you want. And even better, you say, “You know what mind, what I want, what I insist on, what I require of myself every day is a foolproof, awesome dependable memory. Compared to I must not forget I must remember; which yields little to no results.
Turn your mind on -set your mind on fire with words, reprogram your subconscious mind for success. Remember it has a job and its job is to do what you tell it. Your job is to tell it exciting things, understanding the prerequisites:
- I must speak in the present tense
- I must add in the words now, right now
- I must use really exciting descriptive words and make a clear picture so my mind understands what I want
Do this for yourself, use powerful language to reprogram your subconscious mind and get what you want.
By clearly instructing your subconscious mind, you will subconsciously start to behave as if your desire is achievable and act out your dominant thoughts. By acting your dominant thoughts you will achieve what you want.
Gandhi very eloquently explained the principle of your thoughts lead to actions.
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
